How to Write Contracts for Procurement Professionals

Recorded Session
60 Minutes

Procurement professionals are often asked to draft or review contracts without being contract specialists. Once an award is made, the contract decides whether the vendor is bound by its terms or can avoid responsibility. This 60-minute webinar on writing contracts for procurement professionals is taught from a procurement practitioner's perspective, not an attorney's.

You'll cover terms to use when drafting, common definitions, and terms to include and avoid, plus issues with vendor-initiated contracts. A sample contract is reviewed section by section, including payment terms, cancellation, renewals and escalation clauses, and how to arrange sections and attachments.

The session ends with how to manage vendor contracts and avoid common pitfalls.

WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?

The terms in a contract can affect both the deal and your employer. This session shows what to watch for in a typical vendor agreement, which terms strengthen your organization's position, which are deal breakers and which are business decisions, and how to avoid being held hostage by an underperforming vendor.

It suits purchasing agents, buyers, procurement and contract officers, account managers, administrators and counsel.
